Miswak comes from the Arabic سواك also called siwak (literally "stick for cleaning your teeth" or also Arak wood. They obtain it from the Salvadora persica root , a plant used as a natural toothbrush since ancient times. Traditionally, different plants, but the s alvadora persica is the one that presents the most interesting properties for oral hygiene. We find siwak in most of the Arab world, but also in India and more widely in Asia. We chew the siwak stick or we can. use as a toothbrush. It is a stick a few centimeters long and the diameter of a finger.
